![]() The filmmakers used only children to voice the strip’s trademark child characters, maintaining the vision of Peanuts creator, the late Charles Schulz. But it was just as important for the producers to get to know her personality so it would match with her character. The Peanuts filmmakers chose Venus because, of course, she sounds exactly like the voice of Peppermint Patty in earlier movies. “I see all the advertising and all the big billboards and I see how big it will be to everyone else,” she says. Her father told her how huge the movie would be, but she really had no idea, she says. Venus says her parents - Anne De Pamphilis-Schultheis and Eric Schultheis - and five brothers and sisters were so excited when she got the role that they all got Peppermint Patty shirts. She’s also appeared as an extra in the film “Louder than Bombs” “and played the lead role in the independent film “Fourteen Seeds.” She’s appeared in commercials for “Lunchables,” “Ever After High” girls games and toys, Denny’s and T.J. The 4-foot-11-inch Schultheis’ distinctive head of wild, red hair, along with her unique voice, has landed her commercial work on-screen and as voice overs. Most of the voices in the movie are by children living on the West Coast, although joining Schultheis in the studio were two New York area actors playing Linus (Alex Garfin) and Pig Pen (A.J. Venus’ voice tracks were recorded in Soundtrack New York on Broadway. She’s totally infatuated with the boy with low self-esteem who’s forever trying to kick that football. Venus says she made her voice a little lower and raspier for the character who calls Charlie Brown “Chuck.” Peppermint Patty is Charlie Brown’s tomboy baseball adversary and secret admirer. Except when they jokingly call her Peppermint Patty. Her friends treat her no differently than before. Her actual voice sounds like, well, a typical 15-year-old with an upbeat personality. ![]()
